Recreation Workers

Sagkeeng Health Centre – Jordan’s Principle
The Jordan’s Principle program is hiring two Recreation Workers to assist in providing recreation activities to the youth of Sagkeeng. Successful candidates will have knowledge, skills, and a passion for sport and recreation activities and will be able to provide a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for children/youth to learn.
DUTIES:
- Assist with planning, organizing, and facilitating recreation activities for children and youth in the community under the supervision of the Recreation Coordinator
- Facilitate sport and recreation activities to individuals and groups of youth
- Provide safe and fun supervision and care to children served during planned activities and as directed
- Work one-on-one with youth/children as assigned
- Assist with program reporting as required
- Document all activities/events and individual encounters as per Sagkeeng Health Centre and Jordan’s Principle protocols and provide regular reports to the Recreation Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Passion for sport and recreation
- Experience working with children and youth
- Ability to lead, supervise, and facilitate education a small to large groups of children and youth
- Experience providing care and support to persons with disabilities of any age is an asset
- Training in First Aid/CPR, Food Handler’s, and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is an asset, but training will be provided
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License and willingness to obtain Class 4
- Basic written communication skills
- Clean and current Vulnerable Sectors check and Child Abuse Registry Check are required
