POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Principal the Assistant Maintenance Person is responsible for maintaining the school building and grounds.
DUTIES:
- Maintain school building and school grounds
- Maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness and efficiency in all maintenance and repair projects
- Perform preventative maintenance and repair
- Clean common areas,
- Inspect, repair and maintain electrical systems
- Repair broken classroom furniture if required
- Maintenance and upkeep of sprinkler system
- Keep walks and pathways cleared of snow and ice during the winter
- Install, repair or replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators or other plumbing equipment and open clogged drains/toilets
- Maintain a clean and safe work area
- Promote safe work practices and procedures at all times
- Adhere to proper cleaning methods, storage and proper care of equipment and supplies
- Take all precautions to protect students and teachers
- Other duties as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- WHMIS, First Aid Training
- Superior communication skills and the ability to follow instructions,
- Knowledge and ability to do maintenance and repairs
- Ability to assess what work needs to be done including what materials are needed and complete work
- Ability to assess and make recommendations on what work and materials are needed to complete projects;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Ability to manage their time to complete jobs in a thorough and timely manner
- Valid Class 5 drivers’ license and access to a vehicle
