Reporting to the Chief Administration Officer, the Housing & Infrastructure Manager is responsible for the management of the Housing & Infrastructure Departments for Sagkeeng First Nation.
DUTIES:
- Responsible for overseeing the Housing & Infrastructure department including operations, planning, implementation of procedures, staffing and work performance,
- Responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive housing & infrastructure plan for the community,
- Update Housing & Infrastructure policies and ensure implementation and compliance,
- Prepare and ensure compliance with budgets including approvals of purchasing and expenditures,
- Develops proposals, requests for bids and prepares and submits interim and final reports as required,
- Develop and maintain detailed records and files on Housing & Infrastructure including renovations, maintenance and new builds,
- Assist in the development of a detailed plan to identify present and future maintenance requirements including scheduling of work and prioritization,
- Identify and manage all equipment, tools and materials utilized by the departments,
- Manage, coach and assist Housing & Infrastructure Coordinators and Supervisors,
- Organizes and participates in community and Chief and Council meetings as required,
- Ability to use Infrastructure/Housing Management Software
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Diploma, certificate or post-secondary in Management or Carpentry, trades or equivalent combination of experience and skills
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years previous Management experience,
- Ability to create and effectively manage budgets,
- Experience writing successful grant proposals, various reports, documents and policies including those required to meet CMHC standards and requirements, and the National Building Code of Canada.
- Experience with project management in construction, repair and renovation,
- Several years’ experience leading a team of professionals including external contractors,
- Understanding of Workplace Health & Safety Standards,
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including report writing,
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a wide and varied caseload,
- Proficient with computers including experience with MS Word, Outlook, and Excel,
- Capable of working both on own initiative and as part of a team,
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks,
- Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive situation with tact and diplomacy,
- Experience working with a board or committee
