Sagkeeng Health Centre is seeking a Canadian Prenatal Nutrition Program Worker (Term Position October, 2025)
The CPNP worker will teach education and skill development regarding nutrition, food management, breastfeeding, birthing and other topics of importance to families. The CPNP worker will provide females with the knowledge, skills and confidence to be health and raise a healthy infant.
DUTIES:
- In collaboration and direction form the Maternal Child Health Supervisor the CPNP Worker is responsible for delivering high quality prenatal nutritional education during the prenatal and postnatal period.
- Provide Nutritional education during all trimesters of pregnancy and post-partum.
- Promote secure access to food and improve skills & education for food preparation.
- Promote, educate and support breastfeeding during pregnancy and continued support after pregnancy.
- Provide educational materials and supplies during pregnancy and postpartum.
- Provide nutritional support & outreach to high risk pregnant women that may have gestational diabetes, addictions, poverty, inadequate housing.
- Lead, organize and plan CPNP health promotion events, online & in-person groups with MCH Home Visitors and MCH Supervisor.
- Prepare and submit annual work plans and budgets for CPNP activities.
- Carry a small caseload of Maternal Child Health families after required training completed.
- Collaborate with the Public Health Nursing Program to provide current educational information to CPNP clients.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Must possess computer skills with word and excel programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must possess excellent team work attributes.
- Experience in caring for infants and young children is a key asset.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Must demonstrate adequate working experience in public relations and strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate initiative, leadership, creativity in planning and implementing program activities and events.
- Cultural sensitivity and knowledge of First Nations culture and communities.
- Must have driver’s license.
