Reporting to the Director of Operations of the Sagkeeng First Nation, this position is responsible for supporting members and program areas with various employment opportunities throughout the Sagkeeng First Nation traditional territory.
DUTIES:
• Develop and implement outreach strategy to employers
• Liaise with community professionals and employers to create or support jobs and opportunities as well as identify challenges
• Identify opportunities for employment
• Identify barriers to employment
• Maintain inventory of job placements
• Monitor all placements, oversee training development and conduct on-going follow up to ensure successful employment outcomes
• Address employee concerns related to work related matters
• Act as a communication bridge between employees and company management to foster a supportive workplace
• Provide culturally sensitive employment services
• Address conflicts arising in the workplace
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Project Management or equivalent training
• Experience in employer outreach and employment recruitment
• Experience working with job seekers
• Skilled in working with individuals and developing support plans
• Excellent networking abilities
• Ability to establish and nurture relationships
• Ability to negotiate with and influence others
• Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook for email, creating and formatting documents, including memos, letters and reports.
• Understanding of the culture and traditions of the Sagkeeng First Nation
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team member
• Ability to facilitate group activities and manage networking events
• Knowledge of programs and services to support employees in the work place
• Ability to develop workplans and other operational plans
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Work in an office environment
• Work a standard work week with the potential for overtime
• Work as part of a team
• Travel for meetings to various locations will be required
• Must have a valid Manitoba Driver’s License
