Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Events Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, directing and coordinating the events and activities for Treaty Days Celebrations, Community Christmas Feast, Community Meetings.
DUTIES:
• Arrange in-person or virtual meetings with volunteers, groups and organizations to develop, plan and format virtual events and activities for Treaty Day celebrations;
• Coordinate services for events such as signage, volunteers, displays, etc.;
• Schedule events;
• Publicize events and organize registration of participants;
• Recruit volunteers for events;
• Seek potential donors or sponsors;
• Develop, monitor and approve budgets;
• Maintain financial records and prepare reports;
• Develop and enforce safety rules and regulations;
• Monitor activities to ensure safety and provide emergency or first aid assistance when required;
• Submit final report for treaty days
• Organize Community Meetings when requested to do so
• Plan and coordinate Community Christmas Feast
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Familiar with Sagkeeng community;
• First aid training/certification is an asset;
• Experience with Microsoft office programs Word and Excel;
• Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills;
• Demonstrated superior organizational skills;
• Experience with budgeting;
• Experience in a leadership role
• Experience fundraising is an asset;
• Experience with Zoom or Teams, etc.
• Must have a valid Class 5 License
WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Work in an office environment
• Work a standard work week with the potential for overtime
• Work as part of a team
• Travel for meetings to various locations may be required
• Must have a valid Manitoba Driver’s License
