Position Title: Housing Committee Representative (5 Positions)
Representation Needed:
- 1 Male Representative
- 1 Female Representative
- 1 Youth Representative (ages 18–29)
- 1 Women’s Representative
- 1 Elder Representative (ages 60+)

Term: Minimum 1 year

Overview:
Sagkeeng First Nation is seeking five dedicated community members to serve on the Housing Committee. This committee will play an essential advisory role in the development, planning, and evaluation of housing initiatives in Sagkeeng. Representation from various groups will ensure housing decisions are inclusive and reflect the diverse voices within our Nation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in regular Housing Committee meetings
- Provide input and feedback on housing unit assignments, programs, policies, and community needs
- Ensure transparency, fairness, and cultural relevance in housing decisions
- Advocate for equitable access to housing supports within your representative group
- Collaborate with Sagkeeng Housing Department and Chief & Council
- Respect confidentiality and community protocols
Qualifications:
- Must be a registered member of Sagkeeng First Nation
- Knowledge of community housing needs and issues
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Commitment to attend meetings regularly and actively participate
Specific Requirements by Role:
- Youth Representative: Must be between the ages of 18–29
- Elder Representative: Must be 60 years or older
- Women’s Representative: Must self-identify as a woman and have experience or insight into women’s housing needs
- Male/Female Representative: Must self-identify and represent community concerns respectfully and fairly
