Notice of 2nd Ratification Vote
Treaty Land Entitlement Settlement Agreement and Trust Agreement
Date: December 23rd, 2025.
To: CITIZENS OF SAGKEENG ANICIANBE NATION
TAKE NOTICE that a second ratification vote of the Voters of the Sagkeeng Anicinabe Nation, Fort Alexander Band #262 (“Sagkeeng”), will be held on JANUARY 10, 2026 to determine if the citizens of Sagkeeng approve and assent to the Sagkeeng Anicinabe Nation Treaty Land Entitlement Settlement Agreement between Sagkeeng and Canada AND the Sagkeeng Anicinabe Nation Sovereign Wealth Fund, both of which are summarized and included in Information Packages available to all Sagkeeng Voters. To be an eligible voter, you must be a registered member of the Fort Alexander Indian Band No. 262 and 18 years and older on the date of the 2nd Ratification Vote. (“Sagkeeng Voter”).
Ballot Question
The Ballot Question that will be asked of the Sagkeeng Voters, by secret ballot, is found in Schedule
2 of the Settlement Agreement and is as follows:
As a Voter of the First Nation, do you:
- agree to all of the terms and conditions of the Treaty Land Entitlement Settlement Agreement initialled by the negotiators for Sagkeeng Anicinabe Nation and Canada, which settles and releases the Sagkeeng Anicinabe Nation Treaty Land Entitlement Claim, and the Trust Agreement;
and
- authorize and direct the Council of Sagkeeng Anicinabe Nation to sign all documents and do everything necessary to give effect to the Treaty Land Entitlement Settlement Agreement and the Trust Agreement?

Ratification Vote
The Ratification Vote will be held on January 10, 2026. Sagkeeng Voters may cast ballots either electronically or in person as follows:
- Electronic Voting will be available to all Sagkeeng Voters starting on January 3, 2026 at 9a.m. central time up to January 10, 2026 at 9 p.m. central time. To vote electronically, you’ll need to log into or sign up for a OneFeather account. You will need to provide a personal email address and verify your identity. Visit www.onefeather.ca/nations/sagkeeng to get started. Step-by-step instructions can be found in the OneFeather Help Centre.
- In Person at the following polling stations on January 10, 2026, from 9 m. – 9 p.m.:
- North Shore: Sagkeeng Anicinabe Highschool, 713 Nika Cres, Fort Alexander, MB
- South Shore: Sagkeeng Junior Highschool, 664 MB-11, Fort Alexander, MB
- Winnipeg: Canad Inns Polo Park, 1405 Matthews Ave. Winnipeg, MB
Voters List
AND TAKE FURTHER NOTICE that a Voters List is posted with this Notice of 2nd Ratification Vote. It is important that all Voters review the Voters List and immediately contact the Ratification Officer if a name is omitted from the Voters List. The Voting Guidelines provide that:
- 3 On request, the Ratification Officer shall confirm whether the name of a person is on the Voters List.
- The Ratification Officer shall revise the Voters List where it is demonstrated that
- the name of a Voter has been omitted from the Voters List;
- the name of a Voter is incorrectly set out in the Voters List; or
- the name of a Voter not qualified to vote is included in the Voters
- For the purposes of Section 4, a person may demonstrate
- that the name of a person has been omitted from, or incorrectly set out in, the Voters List by presenting to the Ratification Officer evidence that the person is a Voter; or
- that the name of a person not qualified to vote has been included in the Voters List by presenting to the Ratification Officer evidence that that person is not a Voter.
- The Ratification Officer shall revise the Voters List where it is demonstrated that
