Comprehensive Survey Assistant
Ogimaa Kinewak (Prevention)
Full-Time (1 Year Position)

DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the project manager of the Comprehensive Survey and the director of Ogimaa Kinewak (Sagkeeng Prevention Department), the Comprehensive Survey Assistant will support with the Prevention departments Comprehensive Survey initiative.

DUTIES:

  • Assist in the development of data collection tools (e.g. survey questions, measures, etc.)
  • Collect, analyze and compile sensitive community data.
  • Support with development of interim and final reports.
  • Support with administrative duties/tasks as required.
  • Carry out research related to the project, as assigned by project manager or department director.
  • Create safe, inclusive, and engaging spaces for community members and stakeholders.
  • Assist in planning and scheduling meetings and events relating to the census/comprehensive survey.
  • Develop and prepare correspondence, materials, supplies, and logistics for the project.
  • Provide input to project design, evaluation, and improvement processes.
  • Monitor inventory of materials, supplies, and resources used in relation to the project.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and supervision.
  • Support community events, celebrations, or awareness campaigns in relation to the Census/Comprehensive Survey.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the Project Manager and/or Prevention

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent (combination of education/training, work experience, and life experience will be considered).
  • Previous experience with community consultation and/or research;
  • Experience with data processing, basic and intermediate database skills (the right candidate can be trained)
  • Knowledge of accounting practices/processes is an asset;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong conflict resolution and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a team setting;
  • Ability to be detail-oriented, work in high pressure environment and to meet deadlines;
  • Highly developed skills in organization, multi-tasking and priority-setting;
  • Experience with administrative tasks, file management and managing large amounts of data;
  • Ability to compile and develop reports;
  • Knowledge of computer programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Google Docs, );
  • Experience working in a First Nations community or population is an asset;
  • Knowledge and experience in Anishinaabe traditional culture, language and ceremony is an asset.
