Prevention Team Member
Full-Time (Permanent Position)
Under the supervision of the Prevention Team Manager & Prevention Department Director, the Prevention Team Member will be responsible for preparing and facilitating culturally-safe prevention programming and case management, and working to support the wellbeing of children and families of Sagkeeng First Nation.
DUTIES:
- Work closely with Prevention Manager and Director to ensure culturally-safe and relevant program development and delivery and accurate reporting.
- Promote and advertise relevant programs and activities to community members on- and off-reserve.
- Participate and coordinate new prevention strategies and initiatives.
- Develop and distribute information/educational resources
- Plan, coordinate and facilitate prevention programs, activities and workshops in small and large group settings.
- Support development of templates for program evaluations, collection of statistics and reporting.
- Assist with program evaluations for the purposes of reporting.
- Conduct research to support the development of programming, including environmental scans, literature reviews and community consultation.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and files, and carries out other administrative duties as requested by the Program Director.
- Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent degree preferred
- One (1) to three (3) years of previous work experience in a social service environment or related field.
- Combination of education/training, work experience, and life experience will be considered
- Knowledge of intergeneration trauma in Indigenous contexts, trauma-informed theory and practice.
- Training and/or experience in program planning, implementation, presentation, evaluation/report writing.
- Ability to work independently and/or in a team setting.
- Strong conflict resolution and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of computer programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Experience in the delivery of child and family wellbeing programs is an asset.
- Experience working in a First Nations community or population is an asset.
- Knowledge and experience in Anishinaabe traditional culture, language and ceremony is an asset.
