Respite Coordinator
Jordan’s Principle

Summary:  Sagkeeng’s  Jordan’s Principle – Little Star Lodge, supports the Jordan’s Principle Child First Initiative. Under the direction of the Jordan’s Principle Director, the Respite Supervisor will plan, organize, implement, direct, supervise, coordinate and evaluate activities related to Sagkeeng’s Jordan’s Principle Respite Program. The Respite Supervisor will ensure that communication between families, community and partners through the program will ensure adequate staffing levels are in place. The Respite Supervisor will also assist families by support services such as respite, day and afterschool program, case management, and most importantly, advocating for their child/ren.

DUTIES:

  • Establish and maintain positive and supportive relationships with children and caregivers in the program.
  • Complete respite intake with caregivers to establish Level of Respite Care that will be provided to the caregiver.
  • Coordinate and provide respite workers with a monthly schedule.
  • Monthly home visits to check in on caregiver and child to provide respite care calendar and available respite care dates to family
  • Prepare monthly respite care calendars and letters for parents.
  • Schedule respite care for children participating in program with respite staff.
  • Schedule training for respite staff.
  • Submit cheque requisitions for respite program. Coordinate & ensure respite staff follow all safety precautions and program policies.
  • Administrative duties such as data entry, cheque requisitions, develop forms, maintain accurate records for participants and staff.
  • Other duties assigned with in scope of position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A College Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Social Work, Special Education, Counselling or Human Services.
  • 2+ years working experience in the social services field.
  • Excellent verbal, written and computer skills.
  • Effective problem-solving ability as well as strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent team-based attitude required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with respect to all matters pertaining to staff and families in all verbal and written communications,
  • Clean Child & Vulnerable sector check, Clear Criminal Record Check.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 vehicle and access to a vehicle
