MMPHL requires a Family Counsellor who possesses the required qualifications and education background in addictions and mental Health. The primary purpose of the Family Counsellor role is to provide professional addictions counselling including assessment and evaluation, treatment planning, client education & life skills, individual and group counselling, referrals, service coordination and documentation.
Qualifications:
Diploma/degree from a recognized College/University in the field of addictions/social work, or a counselling certificate from a recognized program with addictions and mental health related training and a combination of training/experience.
Demonstrated awareness of impacts of colonization on Indigenous people and in particular the family unit.
Knowledge and experience in traditional and contemporary healing practices.
Ability to work with Elders, Healers and Clinicians within a group setting or individually.
Ability to function in crisis and/or pressure situations.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Facilitation and/or presentation skills.
Life Skills Certificate is an asset.
Ability to network with external resources that will benefit treatment programming.
Must possess computer skills (computer log-in, MS Word, Outlook) in order to adhere to all reporting requirements as established by Supervisor.
Must adhere to Oath of Confidentiality and Code of Professional Conduct of the Lodge.
Valid Class 4 Drivers License or Class 5 and willingness of securing a Class 4 Drivers License.
Access to own vehicle and a clear Drivers Abstract.
Current Emergency First Aid / CPR certificate.
Provide current Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry Checks.
Must be able to demonstrate how you lead a positive & healthy lifestyle (please identify in your cover letter and/or references).
Qualified candidates will be required to undergo a criminal record check and child abuse registry check. Salary is dependent on education and related experience
