Sagkeeng’s Executive Council is seeking to establish the Four Councils (Elders, Women, Men, and Youth) and the Delegates Council as set out in Onakonigawin (Process Law). The law and the draft Four Councils and Delegates Council regulation can be reviewed on the Sagkeeng website – FOUR COUNCILS AND DELEGATES COUNCIL REGULATIONS

If you are interested, please submit your name to Onakonigawin@sagkeeng.ca and identify the council you wish to participate in.

Please submit your interest by September 11, 2026.

Attendance at meetings will be at own cost.

Initial meetings will be held in person.

Sagkeeng Anicinabe Nation is comprised of Anicinabe people who have resided at or near the Fort Alexander Indian Reserve #3 located along the Winnipeg River and Traverse Bay, since time immemorial.

The ancestors of the Anicinabe people of Sagkeeng signed Treaty 1 in 1871. The Fort Alexander Indian Reserve of approximately 21,674 acres was surveyed in 1874 and has a current band membership of 7,637 people with approximately 3,352 living on reserve.
