SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Health (supervisor), the Prevention Program Director is an executive professional who handles the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Prevention Program. The Program Director will liaise with internal and external collaterals in the provision of clinical & essential needs/services for our families and children on reserve. The role supervises and coordinates the efforts of the teams and ensures efforts are in alignment with the Sagkeeng Health Centre’s strategic planning, policies, and procedures. It is the expectation that this role would develop and deliver relevant training for staff including contract workers.

Specific Duties (but not limited to:

  • Direct and coordinate the tasks and employees responsible for executing programs
  • Ensures mainstream as well as traditional ways of healing are available to children and families
  • Provide direction, conflict-resolution, and ongoing support.
  • Hire and mentor the right talent to succeed in the programs they oversee
  • Professional development and evaluation of staff.
  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating programs to ensure they run within the set budget
  • Ensure compliance with Health & Safety guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with terms and conditions of funding agreements.
  • Develop partnerships and foster networking.
  • Develop strategic plans.
  • Oversee program & service delivery.
  • Provide culturally appropriate services that are centered around the physical, emotional, cultural, recreational, mental health, and spiritual well-being of children and youth.
  • Understand the laws and procedures regarding child services.
  • Fill out the necessary forms for services and submit to funders (Indigenous Services Canada)
  • Create and submit reports to supervisor and funders.
  • Ensure understanding of funding and reporting requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a detailed work plan of activities
  • Research best practices and apply as necessary
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with community resources.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of a degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education or other Human Services field from an accredited university or college program.
  • Must be registered, or eligible to be registered, within a professional association in Manitoba.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Functional computer skills required.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
  • Must practice cultural humility and have knowledge and understanding working with diverse populations.
  • Must have proficient knowledge regarding the comprehensive issues relating to colonization, intergenerational trauma, and residential school trauma.
  • Able to work with children, adult individuals, couples, and families.
  • Experience providing supervision to a clinical team, that would include psychotherapists and land-based mentors.
  • Experience and knowledge using a variety of clinical interventions and assessments.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Have applied knowledge of program management processes.
  • Experience in program development would be considered an asset.
  • Prior experience in business management, especially in handling tasks such as recruitment, staff mentorship and training, performance benchmarking, policy design, and strategy development
