TEACHER

The Teacher is an integral part of the Clinical Team and responsible for providing children and youth with learning opportunities and educational support for each seven-week treatment program. This position has flexible work options available.

Employment Requirements:

  • Minimum of four years’ experience working with First Nations children/youth with an understanding of the challenges young people may present in attending treatment programming with their
  • Ability to accommodate and ensure the learning needs of varying grade levels is met.
  • Must have a holistic approach to teaching children and youth for educational requirements including fostering their Aboriginal identity, spiritual growth and emotional well-being.
  • Demonstrate a working awareness of the impacts of colonization on Indigenous
  • Ability to implement traditional teachings in classroom with assistance and support of Elders and Cultural
  • Emotional maturity to effectively address and cope in crisis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with students, parents and as part of Clinical
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledgeable in
  • Experience in counselling and work related knowledge of addictions would be an
  • An Education Degree or Manitoba Teaching Certificate from a recognized university or Please provide a copy of same along with your resume.
  • Must adhere to Oath of Confidentiality and Code of Professional Conduct of the
  • Have a valid Class V Driver’s License and willing to obtain Class IV as part of ongoing
  • A valid Emergency First Aid / CPR
  • Provide current Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry
  • Must be able to demonstrate a positive and healthy lifestyle, and be viewed as a positive role
